Our sports
IGSSA offers nine team-based sports for competition in the summer and winter seasons, as well as an annual Swimming Carnival and Athletics Carnival.

Australian Football
Australian Rules Football was officially added to the list of IGSSA Sports in 2017. Immanuel College were successful in winning both the Middle and Senior competitions in our inaugural season. Since 2017 we have offered competition for Senior A, Senior B, Middle A and Middle B levels. In the Senior A and Middle A competitions schools compete for a perpetual IGSSA trophy.

Athletics
The IGSSA Athletics carnival is held in Term 3 each year. Taking place at the SA Athletics Stadium, Mile End, the event is always a highlight of the IGSSA Sporting year. Many of South Australia’s top female track and field stars have competed in this carnival during their school years. Rules available on request.

Badminton
Badminton is one of the 5 weekly IGSSA Winter Sports, with over 50 teams competing in 6 grades. Matches are held at school venues as well as the home of Badminton SA at Lockleys.

Basketball

The Senior A, Senior B, Middle A and Middle B grades follow a home and away core draw over the course of Term 1 and Term 4, with matches played on Wednesday afternoons. IGSSA C grade competition, for both Senior and Middle age groups, is played at various IGSSA Schools on Monday afternoons.

Cricket
Cricket is keenly contested amongst our member schools on Friday afternoons in Terms 1 and 4.

Hockey
With a rich history in the IGSSA program, Hockey remains one of the 5 IGSSA Winter Sports. Played at multiple top-quality turf pitches around Adelaide, the IGSSA Shields in both A and B grade are always hotly contested.
