Wilderness Wins 2022 IGSSA Swimming Carnival
Wilderness has broken St Peter’s Girls 3-year reign as IGSSA Swimming Champion, winning the Di Medlin Shield as the overall winner of the 2022 IGSSA Swimming Carnival.
The future of swimming in SA is promising with an incredible 4 IGSSA records broken, all in the Under 13 age category.
Isabella of Wilderness smashed 2 18-year records, in the 50m Freestyle (29.00) and the 50m Backstroke (33.34).
Lauren of Pembroke broke the Under 13 Breaststroke record with a time of 36.81.
The Wilderness Under 13 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay also created a new IGSSA record with a time of 2:05.59.
In the hotly contested IGSSA Championship Race, Westminster’s Katie proved to be the fastest 50m Freestyle Swimmer of the meet, recording an impressive time of 28.19.
Congratulations to all swimmers who competed in a carnival. Despite our carnival being impacted by student absences, there was extremely high quality racing, with plenty of exciting finishes and IGSSA Sportspersonship on full display. Many of our swimmers raced in events they don’t usually race in, or in higher divisions. We thank you all for giving it a go and for racing in the spirit of the carnival. Without your “can-do” attitude, there would have been no carnival at all.
