It was another fantastic winter season across IGSSA, with our athletes, coaches, officials and schools navigating a particularly wet and windy Adelaide winter with plenty of resilience, toughness and great spirit.
Across soccer, football, badminton, hockey and netball, we saw some outstanding performances and plenty of close contests, with several schools celebrating memorable Grand Final victories.
Wilderness dominates soccer
It was Wilderness’ year in soccer, with the school completing a remarkable clean sweep of all three IGSSA Grand Finals.
The highlight was an epic Premier League decider against Scotch, which went all the way to extra time before being decided by penalties. Wilderness held its nerve to secure a thrilling 5–4 victory.
Congratulations to Wilderness on an outstanding season and a clean sweep across all three grades.
Historic football success for Seymour
Seymour also enjoyed a memorable football season, hosting all three IGSSA Grand Finals and emerging victorious against strong opponents in Immanuel and Wilderness.
The biggest milestone came in Senior A, with Seymour claiming its first-ever Senior A Football premiership in the history of the IGSSA competition.
It was a significant moment for the school and a fitting reward for an excellent season.
St Peters ends Pembroke’s badminton streak
In badminton, St Peters ended Pembroke’s three-year winning streak with a terrific victory in the Senior A competition.
Meanwhile, Wilderness claimed the Senior B Shield after a closely fought and highly competitive season across both grades.
Hockey honours for Pembroke and Seymour
At the PAC Supergrasse hockey pitch, Pembroke took out the Senior A premiership, while Seymour emerged victorious in Senior B.
Congratulations to both schools, and to all teams who competed throughout the season.
Netball delivers Grand Final thrills
The winter season finished with hundreds of spectators braving the wild, wet and windy conditions at Scotch College for the IGSSA Netball Grand Finals.
There were plenty of celebrations across the grades, with Immanuel claiming the 10A and 8A pennants, Seymour winning the 9A premiership and Scotch prevailing in an extra-time thriller to take out the 7A title.
On the indoor courts, Concordia secured a dramatic one-point victory over Immanuel in the Premier League Reserves Grand Final, while Westminster continued its dominance in Premier League, making it three consecutive premierships with a victory over Scotch.
Looking ahead to Athletics
With winter sport now wrapped up, attention turns to the IGSSA Athletics Carnival, which will be held next week at Athletics SA Stadium.
We wish all our athletes the very best of luck as they take to the track and field to represent their schools.
Congratulations to every athlete, coach, official, volunteer and school community who contributed to another fantastic IGSSA winter season. Despite the rain, the competition, camaraderie and spirit of IGSSA shone through once again.
