From record-breaking swims to last-second thrillers, 2025 has been a standout year for IGSSA sport – showcasing incredible skill, teamwork and school pride across every season.
🌞 Summer Highlights
Term 1 delivered a sensational summer of competition. Immanuel shone brightest in the pool, claiming the IGSSA Swimming Championship, with Wilderness and St Peter’s Girls rounding out the podium. Age pennants went to Wilderness (U13, U16) and Immanuel (U14, U15, Open), while records fell thanks to stars like Saoirse Hannify, Bella Muldoon and the Wilderness U13 relay team.
In Cricket, Scotch made it four Senior A titles in a row, led by MVP Harriet Tyrer’s unbeaten 54. St Peter’s took Senior B honours. Seymour continued their dominance in Tennis, edging Wilderness on total games for a fourth straight Premier League crown.
Scotch also broke an 11-year streak in Basketball, defeating Immanuel in a dramatic overtime clash, while Immanuel snapped a 21-year drought in Volleyball, claiming the Senior A title.
❄️ Winter Highlights
The winter season wrapped up with seven schools contesting Grand Finals – and six taking home trophies.
Wilderness defended their Senior A Football title, while Immanuel and Seymour took the Senior B and Middle A shields. In Soccer, Scotch prevailed in Premier League, Mercedes triumphed in Middle A, and Wilderness swept Division 1.
Pembroke had a powerhouse morning, winning both Hockey finals and claiming their fifth straight Senior A Badminton title (plus a third consecutive Senior B).
At Westminster, netball delivered a fitting finale – Immanuel won three age groups, Seymour took the 9As, and Westminster thrilled home fans with a buzzer-beating Premier League Reserves win before their unbeaten Premier League side lifted the shield once again.
The IGSSA Athletics Carnival capped off Term 3 with outstanding performances both on the track and in the field. Immanuel continued their strong sporting year, claiming the Overall Carnival Championship, ahead of Trinity and St Peter’s Girls. Immanuel also dominated the field events and took out multiple age titles (U13, U15, U16), while Trinity impressed with wins in the U14 and Open divisions. The Di Burge Trophy (100m Championship) went to Ashley from Seymour in a flying 12.40 seconds, and Seymour also powered home to win the Open Relay in 52.75 seconds.
Term 4 sees non-shield competitions played out over our IGSSA member schools in preparation for Term 1. With all competitions now completed, it’s time for our girls to have a well-earned rest!
