The IGSSA Grand Finals brought an action-packed weekend of sport on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 September, with students from across our member schools showcasing their talent, teamwork, and determination across football, badminton, hockey, and netball.
Friday Highlights – Football Finals
The weekend began on Friday with football finals across multiple venues.
- In the Senior B football at ICOSA Oval, Immanuel edged out Seymour in a tight battle, holding on for a 15-12 win.
- At Park 9, Seymour dominated in the Middle A football, defeating Westminster convincingly 44-2.
- The Senior A football final, played the previous week (29 August) at ICOSA Oval, saw Wilderness claim a strong 29-11 win over Immanuel.
Saturday Highlights – Badminton & Hockey
Seymour College played host to the badminton finals, which provided some of the most thrilling matches of the weekend. The Senior A final between Pembroke and Seymour went down to the wire, with Pembroke clinching victory by the narrowest of margins: 3/6/147 to 3/5/145. In the Senior B final, it was an all-Pembroke showdown, with Pembroke Blue defeating Pembroke Green 5-1.
Meanwhile, hockey finals were contested at PAC. Pembroke showcased their dominance on the turf, taking out both titles:
- Senior A Hockey – Pembroke defeated St Peters 5-1.
- Senior B Hockey – Pembroke overcame Wilderness 3-1.
Netball Finals – Westminster and Immanuel Shine
Netball fans were treated to a full slate of finals across year levels, highlighted by Westminster’s strength at the top tier.
- In the Premier League final, Westminster powered past Immanuel with a commanding 79-32 victory.
- The Premier League Reserves final provided the most dramatic finish of the weekend, with Westminster edging out Immanuel 53-52 after the siren.
Other year-level results included:
- 10A – Immanuel defeated Scotch.
- 9A – Seymour overcame Immanuel.
- 8A – Immanuel Blue beat Immanuel Gold in a school rivalry clash.
- 7A – Immanuel topped Pembroke.
