The IGSSA Swimming Carnival delivered another thrilling day of competition yesterday, with Immanuel College emerging victorious as the overall champions. Their swimmers dominated the pool, securing key victories to claim the title ahead of Wilderness School in second place and St Peter’s Girls in third.
The pennant winners across the age divisions reflected strong performances from both Immanuel and Wilderness, with titles distributed as follows:
- Under 13: Wilderness
- Under 14: Immanuel
- Under 15: Immanuel
- Under 16: Wilderness
- Open: Immanuel
A highlight of the carnival was the breaking of three long-standing IGSSA records. Immanuel’s Saoirse Hannify set a blistering pace in the 14 & Under 50m freestyle, touching the wall in 27.62 seconds to rewrite the record books. In the Open 50m butterfly, Bella Muldoon of Westminster delivered an exceptional swim, finishing in 28.00 seconds to set a new benchmark. The Wilderness Under 13 Girls’ 4x50m medley relay team also made history, shaving more than four seconds off the previous record with a stunning time of 2:12.06.
In addition to her record-breaking butterfly performance, Bella Muldoon capped off an outstanding meet by winning the prestigious 50m freestyle championship race, clocking 27.51 seconds.
The event showcased not only elite performances but also the spirit and camaraderie of IGSSA competition, with athletes pushing their limits and cheering each other on throughout the day. Congratulations to all competitors, and especially to Immanuel College for their well-earned victory!
