Pulteney Grammar School

Pulteney “is a vibrant city school which inspires, challenges and empowers young women and men to achieve their full potential in life.”

Located in Adelaide’s city square mile, Pulteney Grammar School is co-educational School founded in the Anglican tradition that offers a complete education ELC to Year 12.

Pulteney's significant history brings together tradition with contemporary educational philosophies and practices that value each individual's learning journey.

Pulteney has continued to grow, leading to an educational environment that is brimming with enthusiasm and optimism. This view is evident in the daily life of students, staff and our community.

Importantly, a sense of community is an inherent part of our strategic plan enabling Pulteney to maintain a boutique size of 1000 students, R-12. Our unique four sub-school structure (Early Learning, Prep, Middle School and one ninety, Pulteney's Senior College) allows the Heads to oversee and know first-hand the 250 individual students and families through small class sizes modelled on 24 students or less.

The inclusiveness of our community, past and present, in the lives of the latest generation of Pulteney students adds generational values while promoting the vitality and possibility of childhood and youth. Inclusiveness is seen, also, in non-selective entry and students and families from all manner of backgrounds and experiences.

Our emphasis on building positive, meaningful and lasting relationships in combination with high quality teaching and learning, creates an enriching and holistic educational quest.

The aim of a Pulteney education is to make every day an adventure of learning and prepare young people for tomorrow where their gifts, and dreams, can change the world.

Sport at Pulteney

Sport also has a very long history at Pulteney. While we see sport as being important, we believe it should be supportive of the curriculum rather than as a replacement for it. By their involvement in the sports programme students are developing life skills and fitness that supports their academic pursuits. Success at university and in post school life is enhanced for those who maintain an interest in other activities. They keep busy and healthy and have a well-balanced approach to life. Everyone can benefit from involvement in sport.

The philosophical underpinnings of sport at Pulteney relate more to involvement than elitism with success being measured much more broadly than by win/loss ratios.

Facilities

Pulteney’s bridge to the South Parklands connects students to unrivalled sporting facilities – five ovals, twelve tennis courts, a full sized synthetic hockey pitch, basketball and netball courts, all set amongst nine hectares of green sporting and recreational space. A Gymnasium on campus and boat sheds on the Torrens and West Lakes extend the range of facilities available to every student.

With the city to the immediate north and the parklands opposite, Pulteney is uniquely placed to enrich the lives of students by developing their sporting abilities, recreational interests and sense of physical well-being.
